Box Score 4 The UW-Whitewater volleyball team wrapped up the Asics National Invite hosted by Washington University in St. Louis in exciting fashion with a 3-2 (17-25, 26-24, 18-25, 25-22, 15-10) win over eleventh ranked Elmhurst. The Warhawks were 2-2 in the tournament, all against ranked opponents, and improve to 6-2 this season after the two wins Saturday.

UW-W defeated Elmhurst 3-2 || Box Score ||
The Warhawks combined a spectacular defensive effort with stellar offense to upset Elmhurst in their last match of the Asics National Invite Saturday. UW-W totaled 70 kills and made their mark in the top ten in school history with 114 digs in the five set match.
At the net three Warhawks posted double figure kills.
Leanna Lillge (Ixonia/Watertown) led the offensive onslaught with 17 kills combining her 16 digs on the defensive side of the ball for a double double.
Jessica Sabey (Merrill/Merrill) pounded down 16 and
Brittney Langley (Winnebago, IL/Winnebago) added 15 more. Five Warhawks had double digit dig numbers with libero
Kelsey Nobilio (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) leading the way with 31. Defensive specialists
Jaclyn Krizka (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah) and
Chelsea Mutton (Rockford, IL/Rockford East) added 28 and 12 respectively and setter
Kim Frei (West Bend/West Bend West) recorded 18 digs.
Nobilio's performance, 88 digs in 16 sets played for an average of 5.5 digs per set, throughout the tournament earned her All-Tournament Team honors.
UW-W is set to host Rockford College and Carroll University Wednesday, September 12 at 3:00 and 7:00 respectively.
UW-W defeated Concordia 3-0 || Box Score ||
UW-Whitewater, ranked twelfth in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, topped twenty-fourth ranked Concordia (MN) 3-0 in the first match Saturday. A drastic turn-around from the second match yesterday, the Warhawks pounded down 49 kills and committed just 15 errors.
The first two sets followed suit with the pattern established Friday, close sets decided by just a few points. The back-to-back 26-24 set wins gave the Warhawks a rising level of momentum going into the third set. UW-W cruised to a 25-18 third set win to take the match.
Leanna Lillge (Ixonia/Watertown) led the offensive charge with 17 kills.
Jessica Sabey (Merrill/Merrill) added 13 more. Setter
Heidi Buss (Cedarburg/Cedarburg) dished out 41 of the team's 44 assists in the match. Defensively, libero
Kelsey Nobilio (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) recorded 18 digs, her tenth consecutive match going back to last season with double digit digs.
Jaclyn Krizka (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah) and Lillge joined the double figure dig club with 14 and 13 respectively.
The Warhawks will face eleventh ranked Elmhurst at 12:30 in their final match of the invite.
Otterbein defeated UW-W 3-2 || Box Score ||
Errors were the story of the match allowing Otterbein to gain momentum at inopportune times and steal the match from UW-W.
The biggest deficit in the statistical columns came from the offense box for the Warhawks. UW-W pounded down 54 kills in the five set match but committed 43 errors in 186 attempts.
Alivia Holman (South Beloit, IL/Rockton Hononegah), in her first game back since an injury sidelined her toward the end of last season, led the Warhawks offensively with 16 kills and just four errors in 27 attempts for a .444 attack percentage.
Kelsey Nobilio (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) notched her sixth straight match this season with double figure digs registering 20 in the contest.
Jaclyn Krizka (Roscoe, IL/Hononegah) and
Chelsea Mutton (Rockford, IL/Rockford East) added 16 and 11 respectively to the team's dig total.
UW-W will take on Concordia at 10:00 Saturday and follow up with a match against eleventh ranked Elmhurst at 12:30 to round out competition in the Asics National Invite.

WashU defeated UW-W 3-0 || Box Score ||
The Warhawks posed a valiant effort in the match against the top ranked Bears keeping each set within reach and refusing to give up. The score was tied 27 times in the first two sets displaying just how close each set was.
Both teams relied heavily on their defenses with Whitewater posting 55 digs, 20 from libero

Kristen Ruchti (Brodhead/Brodhead) taking part in four. Setter

Ariel Johnston (Rockford, IL/Guilford) hit .375 to lead UW-W with eight kills in 16 attempts while committing two errors. Outside hitter
Leanna Lillge (Ixonia/Watertown) was the lone Warhawk with double figure kills with ten.
UW-Whitewater is currently facing twenty-third ranked Otterbein in their second match of the Asics National Invite. UW-W will conclude the tournament with two matches Saturday.
