The 4x400m relay team comprised of
Beth Dreikosen (Sheboygan/North),
Kelsey Jones (Janesville/Parker),
Simone Koenen (Burlington/Burlington), and
Amanda Brom (Jefferson/Jefferson), along with field athlete
Melanie Pilon (Waukesha/South), have been named this week's UW-Whitewater Wal-Mart athletes of the week for women's track and field. Pilon was also named WIAC athlete of the week.
Dreikosen, Jones, Koenen, and Brom earned their honors by clocking a team season best time 3:56.40 in the 4x400m relay at the Drake Relays this past weekend. Their time is currently fourth best on the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honor roll.
Pilon, UW-W's field athlete of the week, earned her honors by tying for first place in the pole vault at the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative with a UW-Whitewater record jump of 12' 2". Her jump is currently the second highest jump in the WIAC and is tenth on the NCAA DIII honor roll.
The UW-Whitewater Warhawks will next compete in and host the
WIAC Outdoor Championships on May 4-5. The first women's events will begin at noon on Friday May 4.
