JoLyn Owen (Middleton/Middleton) placed fifth and
Beau Hering (Lake Mills/Lake Mills) seventh in multi-event competition hosted by UW-Stevens Point Friday and Saturday.
Owen accumulated 3,045 points in the pentathlon. She was second in the shot put (34-7.5), third in the high jump (5-1), fourth in the 60 hurdles (9.88), fifth in the 800 (2:43.02), and fifth in the long jump (16-0.25). Bailey Franklin of Northern Michigan University won the competition with a total of 3,339.
Whitewater's
Jacky Bigger (Twin Lakes/Wilmot Union) also competed, placing eleventh. She went seventh in the long jump (15-4.25), eighth in the 800 (2:46.9), tenth in the shot put (28-9), fourteenth in the high jump (4-2.25), and sixteenth in the 60 meter hurdles (12.02).
Hering totaled 3,885 points in the heptathlon. His events went: third in the high jump (6-1.5), fourth in the 60 meters (7.56), fourth in the long jump (19-10.75), sixth in the 1000 meters (2:55.61), sixth in the 60 meter hurdles (9.31), and sixth in the shot put (34-6.25). Hering did not clear a height in the pole vault. Kyle Steiner, a former UW-Stevens Point athlete, won the event with 5,082 points.
The remainder of the Warhawk track and field teams stayed home this weekend. The men hosted the Squig Converse Invitational Friday and the women hosted the Warhawk Classic Saturday.
The Warhawk track and field teams will host the Warhawk Quadrangular Friday at 4:00 on the Converse Track in Kachel Fieldhouse.
