The UW-Whitewater women's bowling team, ranked eighteenth in the most recent National Tenpin Coaches Association poll, finished its third Wisconsin Collegiate Bowling Conference tournament of the season undefeated, 10-0, after a 5-0 Sunday outing.
Sunday's competition was set in the best four of seven Baker games format.
The Warhawks started out the day with a 720-579 win over UW-Green Bay with game scores of 170, 189, 168 and 193. UW-W swept UW-Stout in the second match of the day after game scores of 196, 194, 203 and 192 led to a 785-557 win. Whitewater added game scores of 203, 183, 189 and 172 to compile a 747-640 rout of UW-Oshkosh. The fourth match pinned the Warhawks against Carthage. UW-W came out on top, 708-665, with game scores of 185, 171, 174 and 178. The Warhawks' final match consisted of scores of 204, 184, 155 and 201 leading to a 744-631 win over Winona State.
Whitewater ended the competition 10-0 (not including a Saturday win over the UW-Whitewater junior varsity squad). The Warhawks are now 27-1 in conference match play this season.
UW-W will travel to St. Paul, Minnesota for the fourth WCBC tournament of the season Saturday-Sunday, February 11-12.
Saturday
The eighteenth ranked UW-Whitewater women's bowling team went 5-0 (not including a win over the UW-W junior varsity squad to finish the day) in the first day of competition in the third Wisconsin Collegiate Bowling Conference tournament of the season in Madison, Wisconsin Saturday.
Whitewater started off the day with an 860-752 win over UW-Stout.
Katie Kleinmaier (Dixon, IL/Dixon) led UW-W with a 204. The Warhawks topped UW-Oshkosh 858-819 in match two.
Dayna Mackie (Glendale Heights, IL/Glendale Heights) threw the high game for UW-W with a 201.
Melissa Molbeck (Germantown/Germantown) and
Jessica Walter (Columbus/Columbus) led UW-W to a 954-750 win over Carthage in the third match of the day with game scores of 209 and 203 respectively. The Warhawks won the fourth match by just 13 pins, 885-872 over Winona State. Walter threw a 214 in the match for game high and day high honors for the Warhawks.
Michelle Wallenberg (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) had a 206 in the fifth match of the day to lead UW-W to an 875-846 win over UW-Milwaukee. Whitewater's final matchup of the day drew a win against the Warhawk junior varsity squad.
The 5-0 Saturday brings UW-Whitewater's conference record to 22-1 this season with the lone loss coming at the hands of UW-Milwaukee in the WCBC tournament of the season October 15, 2011.
The Warhawks stand out in the conference tournament as the lone incollegiate varsity team. All other teams competing are club teams.
The tournament will conclude Sunday in Madison.
