Bowlers Improve to 36-1 in WCBC

The Warhawk women's bowling team, ranked eighteenth in the National Tenpin Coaches Association, went undefeated 9-0 in a Wisconsin Collegiate Bowling Conference competition in St. Paul, Minnesota. UW-W went 5-0 Saturday and capped the weekend with a 4-0 day Sunday to improve to 36-1 in the WCBC this season. (Records do not include matches against the UW-Whitewater junior varsity squad.)

Sunday's competition was comprised of four-game Baker matches. UW-W won the first match by forfeit, 764-0 over UW-Stout. The Warhawks rolled past UW-Green Bay in match two compiling their highest total pinfall of the day, 801-553. Next the varsity squad lost to the junior varsity team in match three. UW-W topped UW-Milwaukee 714-468 in the fourth match and capped the day with a 749-565 rout of Winona State.

This is the fourth WCBC competition of the 2011-12 season. The Warhawks are the lone varsity team competing in the WCBC, the other teams are club organizations.

The Warhawks have two more Baker matches to crown the conference champion.

UW-W will travel to Bloomington, Indiana to compete in the Hoosier Classic Friday-Sunday, February 17-19.

The UW-Whitewater women's bowling team, ranked eighteenth in the National Tenpin Coaches Association poll, went 5-0 (not including a win over the UW-W junior varsity squad) in the first day of a Wisconsin Collegiate Bowling Conference competition in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The first day of competition consisted of head-to-head team matches. The Warhawks started out the first day of competition with an 832-639 win over UW-Green Bay, led by a 188 game from Katie Kleinmaier (Dixon, IL/Dixon). UW-W picked up its second win of the day over the Whitewater JV team. Katie Zwiefelhofer (Racine/Washington Park) posted a 195 in the third match to lead Whitewater to an 862-783 win over UW-Milwaukee. UW-W topped Winona State 890-784 in the fourth match led by Tracy Fakes (Columbus/Columbus )' 184. Dayna Mackie (Glendale Heights, IL/Glendale Heights) led Whitewater in the final two matches with a 222 in a 925-760 win over UW-Oshkosh and a 241 in the 1005-672 rout of Carthage. Mackie's 241 ties for the fifth highest individual game score for the Warhawks this season. The team total of 1005 is the third best for UW-W on the season.

Whitewater is now 32-1 in WCBC play this season with the sole loss coming at the hands of UW-Milwaukee in the first WCBC competition of the season back in October.

This is the fourth WCBC competition of the 2011-12 season. The Warhawks are the lone varsity team competing in the WCBC, the other teams are club organizations. The competition will conclude Sunday.
