Warhawk Men Sweep Events in Dual Meet

The UW-Whitewater men's swimming and diving team swept all of the events in a dual meet against UW-Oshkosh, leading to a 147.5 to 87.5 win in Whitewater's Williams Center Friday night. The Warhawks also swept first through third place in the 50 freestyle, 200 butterfly, one meter dive, 200 breaststroke and 400 freestyle relay.

Joe Devroy (Kenosha/Bradford) and Keefer Kuhl (Kenosha/Bradford) recorded season bests in the meet. Devroy touched first in the 500 freestyle in 5:04.53 for the best time registered by a Warhawk in the event this season. Kuhl recorded a season best score of 206.70 in the one meter diving competition. Kuhl added three meter honors with a score of 175.35.

Joe Devroy (Kenosha/Bradford) added another top finish in the 50 yard freestyle after stopping the clock in 23.08. John Devroy (Kenosha/Bradford) notched two wins, including a time of 1:5.61 in the 200 freestyle and 2:06.15 in the 200 backstroke. Other individual first place finishers include Benjamin Wynn in the 1000 yard freestyle in 10:30.48, Ryan Stuart (Frankfort, IL/Lincolnway East) in the 200 yard individual medley in 2:09.69, Marcus Genrich (Janesville/Parker) in the 200 butterfly in 2:07.23, Sam Dellacecca (Brainerd, MN/Bemidji ) in the 100 freestyle in 51.67, and Jake Shackelford (Wauwatosa/Wauwatosa East) in the 200 breaststroke in 2:24.19.

Two UW-W relay teams touched the wall first in the meet. The 200 yard medley relay team of Genrich, Jacob Chartrand (Racine/Park), Jasen Johnson (New Berlin/New Berlin) and Austin Mrkvicka (Lockport, IL/Lockport) started the night off with a win, stopping the clock in 1:44.44. The 400 freestyle relay team consisting of Joe Devroy (Kenosha/Bradford), Andrew Sterger, Genrich and Mrkvicka stopped the clock in 3:26.61 in the final event of the meet.

Whitewater will travel to Decorah, Iowa to face Luther College Saturday, November 3 beginning at 1:00.
