Swimmers Open Season with Win

The Warhawk men's swimming and diving team opened the 2012-13 season with a 168-125 dual meet win over Carthage Friday night.

Whitewater won eleven events and took second in four more in the dual meet win. The 200 yard medley relay team made up of Joe Devroy (Kenosha/Bradford), Jasen Johnson (New Berlin/New Berlin), Benjamin Wynn and Marcus Genrich (Janesville/Parker) stopped the clock in 1:42.02 for UW-W's first event win of the night. Devroy, Johnson and Genrich would each add top finishes in two more events over the course of the meet. Devroy recorded a time of 55.25 in the 100 backstroke and followed with a time of 1:58.84 in the 200 backstroke for two first place finishes. Johnson hit the wall first in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.33) and 100 butterfly (54.71) and Genrich was the top finisher in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:16.45 and 200 yard individual medley in 2:02.73.

Keefer Kuhl (Kenosha/Bradford) swept the diving competition recording scores of 167.37 and 187.50 in the one and three meter dives respectively. John Devroy (Kenosha/Bradford) took the top spot in the 200 butterfly in 2:01.85. Ray Polgar (Port Washington/Port Washington) rounded out Whitewater's top finishers stopping the clock in 5:04.99 in the 500 yard freestyle.

The Warhawks will host UW-Oshkosh Friday, November 2 at 6:00 pm.
