Kelsey Nobilio (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) set UW-W's record for digs in a match with 40 in Whitewater's 3-1 (20-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-21) win over Dominican University in their first match in the Midwest Invitational hosted by Hope College in Holland, Michigan Friday evening. UW-W fell to the host school, fifth ranked Hope College, in the night cap 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-15).

The Warhawks pounded down 65 kills in the match, the second most in a match this season.
Leanna Lillge (Ixonia/Watertown) led the offensive charge with 22 kills followed by
Kristen Ruchti (Brodhead/Brodhead)'s 12 and
Ariel Johnston (Rockford, IL/Guilford) added 10.
Kim Frei (West Bend/West Bend West) posted 52 assists in the match. Defensively, three Warhawks joined Nobilio in double figure digs including Lillge with 18,
Chelsea Mutton (Rockford, IL/Rockford East) with 15 and Frei added 12.
Nobilio broke the previous mark of 38 held by Angie Wildish in a match against Washington University in St. Louis in 2001. Nobilio has recorded at least ten digs in every match this season and has posted 20 or more digs in eight consecutive contests.
DU is 20-4 this season.
Hope Recap
Fifth ranked Hope College got the better of the Warhawks in the final match of the evening in Holland, Michigan.
Statistically, the teams look quite even in the match with Hope posted 39 kills to 34 for Whitewater. HC had just two more service aces than UW-W while recording two fewer receiving errors. Defensively, the Warhawks had 45 digs compared to 50 for Hope but HC notched 2.5 more total blocks than UW-W. The biggest discrepancy was in hitting efficiency. Hope was 39 of 103 with 14 attack errors compared to Whitewater's 34 of 126 with 25 hitting errors committed.
Ariel Johnston (Rockford, IL/Guilford) led the Warhawks with nine kills followed by seven from
Brittney Langley (Winnebago, IL/Winnebago) and
Caroline Langer (Menomonee Falls/Milwaukee Pius XI).
Kim Frei (West Bend/West Bend West) dished out 27 assists and
Leanna Lillge (Ixonia/Watertown) led UW-W defensively with nine digs.
Whitewater is now 18-8 this season and Hope improves to 20-2.
UW-W will wrap up play in the Hope College Tournament with two matches Saturday. The Warhawks will take on Calvin College, the second ranked team in the AVCA poll, at 12:00 and are set to face Wisconsin Lutheran at 2:00.
