The UW-Whitewater women's tennis team, ranked seventh in the Central Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and twenty-seventh nationally, defeated Luther College, ninth in the Central Region, 5-4 Saturday in the second day of play in the Midwest Invitational at the Nielsen Tennis Center in Madison, Wisconsin. The Midwest Invitational brought together the top eight Division III teams in the upper Midwest, with play beginning Friday.

Divelbiss and Bayliss went undefeated in the three weekend matches against ranked opponents. Bayliss added to her school record victory total, which now stands at 31-3. Divelbiss is 24-4. Smith and Divelbiss, 19-8 as a duo, lead all UW-W doubles teams in wins. Schaefer and Bayliss pulled an upset with their win Saturday, topping the number one doubles team from Luther, ranked thirteenth in the Midwest.
UW-W is 19-5 in dual meets this season. The Warhawks, winners of their fourth consecutive Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship last fall, will host the WIAC Final Four Saturday, April 30. The top four WIAC teams will gather to determine the league's representative in the NCAA III team championship. UW-W, as the number one seed, will face fourth seed UW-Oshkosh at 12:00. Also at 12:00 will be the match between UW-Eau Claire and UW-La Crosse. The winners will play for the league's NCAA berth at 3:00. All matches will be played on the Wangerin Courts on the UW-W campus, weather permitting. The courts are located south of Williams Center/Kachel Fieldhouse. No spectator charge will be assessed.
