Simone Koenen (Burlington/Burlington) and
Jessa Luebke (Tomah/Tomah) were named UW-Whitewater women's track and field athletes of the week for their performances last weekend. The women's team competed at the Huskie Invite hosted by NIU in DeKalb, IL, Saturday, April 23. No team scores were kept, but UW-W had several top finishers.
Koenen placed fifth in the 400m dash with a season-best time of 61.42. She was also part of the 4x400m relay team that placed second with a season-best time of 4:11.12.
Luebke won the hammer throw with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and personal record of 169-05 (51.65m). She finished second in the shot put, with a season-best throw of 41-07.25 (12.68m). In the discus, she finished fifth, throwing 116-02 (35.42m).
