Bowlers Tenth, Zwiefelhofer Thirteenth in FDU Jamboree

Day Three (Final)
UW-Whitewater wrapped up competition in the Fairleigh Dickinson Jamboree in Teaneck, New Jersey Sunday with a tenth place finish in the eighteen team field.   With the bracket set by scores in the previous two days of play (one Baker, one team) schools were playing for final position Sunday.  UW-W lost to Long Island University 4-3, defeated Monmouth University (NJ) 4-2, then lost a rematch with LIU in the ninth place match, 4-1.  All matches were best of seven.

The scores in the first match of the day (WW listed first) were 201-153, 174-197, 201-160, 155-158, 170-192, 180-159, and 163-210.  In the win over Monmouth the scores were 197-191, 157-167, 158-171, 199-165, 186-155, and in the deciding match, a one pin victory 175-174.  The final match went 169-180, 225-190, 161-162, 180-190, and 178-224.  The 225 in the second game of the match, Whitewater's win, is the second best Baker score for the team this season.  The team members that contributed to that total included Melissa Molbeck (Germantown/Germantown), Katelyn Miles (Rockford, IL/Jefferson), Tracy Fakes (Columbus/Columbus ), Ashley Bell (Menomonee Falls/Menomonee Falls ) and Katie Zwiefelhofer (Racine/Washington Park).

Zwiefelhofer also led UW-Whitewater individuals, finishing in thirteenth place with a 202.8 average in the field of 119.  Michelle Wallenberg (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) was 43rd at 186.75, Dayna Mackie (Glendale Heights, IL/Glendale Heights) 47th 185.5, Ashley Bell (Menomonee Falls/Menomonee Falls ) 53rd 182.5, and Melissa Molbeck (Germantown/Germantown) 55th 182.25.  Brittni Hamilton of Vanderbilt University was the medalist with a 220.2 average.

Host Fairleigh Dickinson won the tourney, with Vanderbilt second, Sam Houston State third, and Sacred Heart fourth.  In addition to the bowling competition, the FDU Jamboree also raised funds for breast cancer awareness.

UW-W is 6-7 in NCAA competition, 23-8 overall in head-to-head competition.


Whitewater will compete in the Crusader Classic hosted by Valparaiso University in Merrillville, Indiana November 11-13.


Day Two
The UW-Whitewater bowling team is in eighth place in the eighteen team field after day two, Saturday, of the Fairleigh Dickinson Jamboree in Teaneck, New Jersey.

UW-W opened the day with a 914-881 win over Monmouth (NJ), with Katie Zwiefelhofer (Racine/Washington Park) leading the Warhawks with a 217.  Whitewater matched up with eleventh ranked Adelphi in the second match of the day, with UW-W falling 949-927.  The match was tied going into the last frame, but Adelphi collected a pair of strikes and Whitewater two opens.  Saint Francis (PA), ranked sixteenth, topped UW-W 866-849, with Zwiefelhofer again registering the top score, 227, also the sixth highest for the team this season.  Michelle Wallenberg (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem)'s 216 was the best on the team in a 1002-915 loss to number nine Sacred Heart in Whitewater's next match, and the Warhawks closed out the day with an 886-824 win over Long Island University, Zwiefelhofer again topped on the team with a 197. 

Zwiefelhofer rolled the top series of the day, collecting 634 pins.  That is the seventh best series on the team this season. 

UW-Whitewater is 5-5 against NCAA competition this season, and 22-6 overall in head-to-head competition.

Day One
UW-Whitewater is in seventh place after the first of three days of competition at the Fairleigh Dickinson Jamboree in Teaneck, New Jersey. 

UW-W defeated seventh-ranked Kutztown State 727-666, squeaked by Saint Francis (PA) 656-653, and in another match that came down to the last ball, topped host Fairleigh Dickinson 773-765.  That set up a match with the number one team in the latest ranking of NCAA teams, the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore.   Whitewater led after the first game 201-177, was behind by just one pin 406-405 after two games, and trailed just 601-587 after three.  UM-ES pulled away in the final game to win 824-769.  The Warhawks' final match of the day came against Stephen F. Austin University, coached by former Warhawk Amber Lemke.  SFAU won 811-737.

The first day used Baker format, with Saturday scheduled for team games.  Sunday's playoff round will be determined based on total pinfall after Friday and Saturday.

Whitewater's first day included three of the team's top five Baker games of the young season.  The Warhawks bowled 222 (second) and 214 (fifth) in the win over FDU, and 216 (fourth) in the loss to Stephen F. Austin.

Vanderbilt leads the tourney after day one with 3,978 pins, followed by Sam Houston State 3,959 and FDU 3,939.  Maryland-Eastern Shore is fourth at 3,869, and Sacred Heart rounds out the top five at 3,846.  Whitewater has a total of 3,672 pins in seventh, just behind sixth place Stephen F. Austin's 3,804.  There are eighteen teams in the field.

In head-to-head competition UW-W is 20-3 this season.
