Both teams started cautiously, with just one shot on goal by each team in the first thirty minutes of the game.

That ended with Pam Lisowe's goal at 30:14, her second of the season and assisted by Christina Tooren (Hoffman Estates, IL/Hoffman Estates), to put Whitewater out front.

UW-W put a second goal on the board a short time later, with a flurry of shots.  Emily Gerber (DeForest/DeForest)'s initial attempt was stopped by Brittany Marx, and five seconds later Tooren's attempt was blocked by a Point defender.  At 33:39 Gerber finally found the back of the net, assisted by Laren Nashleanas (Brookfield/East).  The score gave Gerber, the leading point producer in the WIAC, thirteen goals on the season.

The pace settled for the last ten minutes of the half as Whitewater led 2-0 at the break.

Whitewater made a bid for a three goal lead at 47:57 with a shot by Alyssa Chamberlain (De Pere/De Pere) that Marx saved.  The next two shots on goal came from the Pointers, one by Hannah Burt and another by Kim Jobke, that Whitewater's Jordan Myers (Aurora, IL/Waubonsie Valley) stopped.

Tooren notched her tenth goal of the season to put Whitewater up 3-0 at 70:00, with an assist by Kelsey Finn (Glendale/Nicolet).

Whitewater had two more shots on goal, and then Point counterattacked with Sarah Vitale scoring from a difficult right angle at 73:19 to make it 3-1.

It took less than two minutes for the Pointers to pull within one.  Again attacking down the right side, Jessica Ruch scored her seventh goal of the season with an assist from Jobke at 74:36 to make it a one goal game.

The Warhawks registered the only two shots in the remaining time in the game.

UW-W totaled 19 shots in the game, Stevens Point 8.  Marx made seven saves for the Pointers, Myers three for Whitewater.  Both teams had two corner kicks, and Whitewater committed five fouls to three for UW-SP.

The Warhawks also defeated the Pointers during the regular season, by the same 3-2 score, October 15 in Stevens Point.
