Seven in a Row for Women Kickers

Box Score

UW-Whitewater ran its win streak to seven with a 2-1 win at Clarke University in Dubuque Tuesday.

Scoring opportunities were at a premium.  The first shot of the game went in.  Emily Rehfus notched her first of the season to put Clarke on the board.  UW-W's Stacey Schultz (Menomonee Falls/Menomonee Falls) evened the score with her third goal of the season at 15:28 with an assist from Sarah Sedlar (Racine/Case), Sedlar's first assist of the season.  It was Whitewater's only shot in the first half.

There wasn't another shot in the first period until 40:11, when Clarke's Maria Vilar was stopped by Warhawk goalie Emily Haeger (Rolling Meadows, IL/Rolling Meadows).  Almost two minutes later, at 43:24, Vilar went on the attack again, but her shot was high and the teams went into intermission tied 1-1.

In the second half, at 59:44, Becky Please had an opportunity to double Whitewater's score, but Clarke keeper Kaylee Steen made the save.

At 65:36 is was Clarke's turn, with Brittany Sova challenging Haeger, and Haeger winning to keep the game at 1-1.

The game winner came at 74:41, with Kelsey Kohlbeck (Sauk City/Sauk Prairie) scoring her second goal of the season, unassisted to give UW-W the victory.

UW-W and CU both had four shots in the game, with Whitewater holding a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Whitewater upped its mark to 11-4-1 while Clarke dipped to 6-10-1.

The Warhawks will host UW-Eau Claire at 5:00 Saturday, October 29 at Fiskum Field.  The game is Alumni Recognition Day and Homecoming for the UW-W soccer teams.  Fiskum Field is west of Perkins Stadium and northwest of Williams Center/Kachel Fieldhouse on the north end of the UW-W campus.  Free parking is adjacent to the field.
