The Warhawk men's swimming and diving team topped the competition in every event in the season opening meet against Carroll University to win 153-69 Friday night in the Williams Center pool in Whitewater, Wisconsin.

Four Whitewater men took first in multiple events including Jake Shackleford,
Jared Gruenwald (Milwaukee/Riverside),
Derek Scheible (Sheboygan/Sheboygan South) and
Mike Torielli (Menomonee Falls/Menomonee Falls). Schackleford took gold in the 1000 free (10:22.05) and 100 breaststroke (1:06.88) The 100 and 200 freestyle belonged to Gruenwald who crossed the line in 51.07 and 1:53.10 respectively. Scheible's 2:06.98 in the 200 individual medley and 5:04.76 in the 500 freestyle topped the competition. Torielli stole the show in the diving competition scoring 202.66 in the one meter and posting a 198.98 in the three meter for two more Warhawk wins.
Other UW-W winners include the 200 medley relay team with a time of 1:40.32, the 200 freestyle relay team finished in 1:31.77,
Landon Joiner (Hinsdale, IL /South)'s 22.43 in the 50 freestyle, Benjamin Wynn's 100 butterfly time of 55.61, and
Joe Devroy (Kenosha/Bradford) hit the finish line in 55.60 in the 100 backstroke.
Whitewater will dedicate the new Tyler Slak Memorial scoreboard at the alumni meet Saturday, October 29 beginning at 10:00. The Warhawks next competition is set for Saturday, November 5 at 1:00 as UW-W will host Luther College and UW-Oshkosh.
