Bowlers 4-0 Sunday

The Warhawk bowling team wrapped up their opening weekend with a 4-0 mark Sunday at a Wisconsin Collegiate Bowling Conference meet in New Berlin, Wisconsin.

The Warhawks defeated Carthage College 688-576, topped UW-Oshkosh 609-543, beat UW-Green Bay 824-562, and edged Winona (MN) 617-566. 

UW-W went 4-1 Saturday on the first day, in matches that were all individual total games.  Sunday's matches used the Baker format.  UW-W rolled a 233 and a 212 in the win over UW-Green Bay.  Bowlers contributing to those high scores were Monica Ripp (Madison/La Follette), Dayna Mackie (Glendale Heights, IL/Glendale Heights), Kayla Betz (Sterling, IL/Sterling), Katelyn Miles (Rockford, IL/Jefferson), Michelle Wallenberg (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem), Ashley Bell (Menomonee Falls/Menomonee Falls ), Katie Zwiefelhofer (Racine/Washington Park), and Jessica Walter (Columbus/Columbus).

UW-W is the only varsity, intercollegiate team in Wisconsin.  The other teams in the meet are club sports at their schools.  Whitewater is the only team that also competes nationally in NCAA affiliated events.

Whitewater will compete in another WCBC meet next weekend, October 22-23, in Kenosha.
