Two wins apiece from
Shelby Demos (Janesville/Parker) and
Jessa Luebke (Tomah/Tomah) led the UW-Whitewater women's track and field team to first place in the fifteen team field at the Rocky Rococo Invitational in the Kachel Fieldhouse in Whitewater Saturday.

Demos' victories came with an added bonus. She won the 55 hurdles in 8.68 and placed first in the high jump at 5-7.25 --- with the latter performance meeting the automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA III indoor track and field championship.
Luebke won both the shot put, 38-5, and the weight throw, 47-4.25.
UW-Whitewater added first place points in three more events.
Megan Strandell (Oswego, IL/Oswego) won the 800 in 2:28.43;
Melanie Pilon (Waukesha/South) placed first in the pole vault with a height of 10-6, and the Warhawk 4x400 relay team crossed the line first in 4:14.65.
There were several other Warhawk athletes that made major contributions to the UW-W team point total. Lisa D'Allesio finished second to Strandell in the 800 in 2:29.04;
Stephanie Cowling (Neenah/Neenah) was second in the long jump with a leap of 17-4.5;
Kristen Heitsman (Janesville/Parker) was third in the 55 in 7.68; and
Alyssa Duncan (East Troy/East Troy) was third in the mile in 5:31.96. Also
Megan Blake (Waukesha/Waukesha South) was the runnerup to Luebke in both the weight throw at 45-9.25 and the shot put with a 35-6.5;
Angela Behrendt (Appleton/Appleton East) was the second place finisher in the 5000 in 19:42.52;
JoLyn Owen (Middleton/Middleton) added to Demos' points in the high jump by finishing third at 5-3.25; and
Kelsey Jones (Janesville/Parker) was third in the 200 in 27.34.
Caitlin Koller (West Allis/Hale) contributed more points in the pole vault by finishing third at 9-6.25; Pilon demonstrated her versatility by adding points with a third in the shot put --- giving UW-W a 1-2-3 sweep, with a throw of 33-7.25, and
Madeline Roznos (Reedsburg/Reedsburg) placed second in the 3000 in 11:05.55.
The Warhawk 4x400 relay wrapped up the meet with a win in 4:14.65.
UW-Whitewater will take part in a triangular meet at North Central Friday, January 28. The next appearance in Kachel Fieldhouse will be Saturday, February 5 at 12:00 in the Warhawk Classic.
