UW-Whitewater, ranked fifth in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III poll, defeated Robert Morris University 3-1 (25, 20, 24-26, 25-17, 25-15) Tuesday night in the UW-W volleyball arena on campus.

UW-W led throughout game one, keyed by three service aces from
Caitlin Hogan (New London/New London).
Robert Morris led early in game two, until UW-W tied the game 10-10. The lead exchanged hands the rest of the way, neither team managing more than two consecutive points.
Whitewater again led throughout in game three. UW-W went from 9-5 to 12-5, with
Alyssa Bauer (Naperville, IL/Central) contributing a big ace in that run. The Warhawks' biggest lead was 21-13, and UW-W had just four attack errors in the contest.
The Warhawks jumped out front 3-0 in game four, and used another surge from 14-11 to 17-11 with the help of an ace from
Tricia Foldy (Muskego/). UW-W spurted again, going from 18-12 to 21-12 and it remained either a nine or ten point bulge the rest of the way.
Ariel Johnston (Rockford, IL/Guilford) hit .579 in the match, with 12 kills.
Katy Krajnak (Racine/Case) and Hogan led with 13, and
Sofia Sanchez (Janesville/Craig) also had 12.
Christina DeGroot (Kewaskum/Kewaskum) passed for 51 assists and Bauer topped the team with 19 digs.
Robert Morris is 14-7.
UW-W is 12-1. The Warhawks will host the Whitewater Invite Friday and Saturday, September 24 and 25.
Emory University and the University of Chicago, both nationally ranked, will be in the field in the tourney.
Friday at 7:00 UW-W will dedicate the volleyball arena in name of Kris Russell, UW-W's long-time, now retired, coach who directed the team to a national title in 2002 and ranks among the most successful coaches in Division III volleyball history.
