UW-Whitewater evened one score Friday, and set up a chance for another. UW-Whitewater defeated Wheaton College (IL) 5-1 Friday in the second round of the NCAA III Saint Peter, Minnesota Regional hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College. UW-W was eliminated from the 2009 NCAA tourney with a 5-0 second round loss to Wheaton.
UW-W, 22-5, had a bye in the first round Thursday as the number two seed. The Warhawks will face host Gustavus, 32-10, the number one seed and a 5-0 winner over Luther College in Friday's second round. Gustavus was the squad that knocked the Warhawks out of the 2008 NCAA championship by a 6-0 score.

Rutkowski and Siemon have reached the twenty win plateau, upping their mark to 20-4. The other two doubles teams, both relatively new, are unbeaten. Schaefer and Smith are 5-0, and Stensvaag and Daciolas are 4-0. In singles play Schaefer is now 20-7 and Smith 24-7.
Whitewater also beat Wheaton, 5-4 September 5.
