UW-Whitewater went 1-2 in matches in the first day of competition in the Warhawk Invitational at the Warhawk Alleys in Whitewater, Wisconsin Saturday.  Elmhurst College and Valparaiso University were 2-1 Saturday, with Minnesota-Mankato joining the Warhawks at 1-2.  Elmhurst led in pinfall with 2122, followed by Whitewater at 2104, Valparaiso at 2076, and Mankato with 2060.  The tournament will conclude with play Sunday at the lanes in the University Center on campus, starting at 9:30.

UW-W lost to Valparaiso 703-698, lost to Elmhurst 747-708, and defeated Minnesota-Mankato 698-675 in the baker games Saturday.  The Warhawks also fell to Elmhurst 904-878, and Valparaiso 950-846.

Team standings at the end of the first day are:  Elmhurst 4055, Valparaiso 4048, UW-Whitewater 3828, and Minnesota-Mankato 3758.  The standings are based on total pinfall, baker games and individual.  

Kayla Schmidt (Johnston, IA/Johnston) leads UW-W with a second place total 409 (two game total).  Kristina Palermo (Addison, IL /Addison) is in fourth place with 403.  Krystyna Johnson of Valparaiso leads the tourney with 460.  Schmidt also led the Warhawks with a 223 game.

Sunday's schedule will begin with a team game, followed by three four-game baker contests.
