The UW-Whitewater women's volleyball team defeated Wheaton College 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-14) on Saturday, day two of the UW-Whitewater Invitational. The match lasted just 55 minutes. The Warhawks improve to 4-1 this season, 3-0 at the invitational, and the Thunder falls to 1-2 at the tournament and for the season.

The Warhawks jumped out to a 6-1 lead to begin the first set before Wheaton called a timeout. The 'Hawks extended their lead to 16-5 before Wheaton put together a run of their own. The Thunder crept back to 18-11 before the Warhawks stole back the momentum to finish the set.
Set two saw the Warhawks lurch out to a nine point lead; a lead that never narrowed for the Thunder. The set finished with a solo block by the Warhawks' Megan Peterson (Burlington/Burlington).
The final set was a bit closer to start, but had the same outcome; a Warhawk victory by double digits.
Melissa Zuleger (Little Chute/Little Chute) finished the match with a .824 attack percentage. The percentage ranks her third in the UW-Whitewater record book for attack percentage in a match. The minimum requirement to make the list is 15 attempts. Zuleger had 14 kills on 17 attempts in the match with no errors. Melinda Erickson holds the record with a .875 attack percentage. She achieved that mark on October 31, 2000 against UW-Stevens Point.
Alyssa Bauer (Naperville, IL/Central) was solid defensively for UW-W, recording 17 digs in the match. The Warhawks had 53 digs as a team.
The Warhawks play again on Saturday at noon against Bethel University. The Warhawks defeated Bethel on Friday 3-0.
