The UW-Whitewater women's soccer team shutout Concordia University 5-0 on Tuesday in Mequon. The Warhawks are 1-0-0 and Concordia is 0-1-0.

The Warhawks went up 1-0 on an unassisted goal by Becky Cera (Wauwatosa/Wauwatosa West) in the 14th minute of the game. They increased their lead to two on the first of two goals by Emily Gerber (DeForest/DeForest), this one in the 22nd minute. Gerber's first goal was assisted by Stacey Schultz (Menomonee Falls/Menomonee Falls).
Another Gerber goal in the 61st minute gave the Warhawks a 3-0 lead. The fourth Warhawk goal was scored by Stephanie DesJardins (Park Ridge, IL/Main South) with assists from Cera and Melanie Billinghurst (Lake Mills/Lake Mills). Billinghurst got the final goal of the game off of an assist by Kelsey Finn (Glendale/Nicolet) in the 89th minute.
Sharing time in the goal were Mary Scanlin (Waunakee/Waunakee) and Jacqueline Piasecki (Elk Grove Village, IL/Conant). The two Warhawk goalkeepers combined for the shuout and five saves.
The Warhawks outshot the Falcons 15-8 and had five more corner kicks, 7-2.
The Warhawks play again on Saturday, September 5 against Loras at 5:30 pm in Whitewater.
