University of Wisconsin-Whitewater pitchers Aaron Dott (Green Lake/Green Lake) and Jason Hooper (Lake Mills/Lake Mills), and infielder Ben Kuhlmann (Minneapolis, MN/Southwest) have been named to the Division III All-Midwest Region Team selected by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Dott was named to the second team. Hooper and Kuhlmann were third team picks.
Dott, a junior left hander, led the Warhawk pitching staff. He went 7-6 with a 3.16 earned run average. He had four complete games, one save, struck out 119 in 99.2 innings, and opponents hit .227 against him. His innings pitched total for a season is third in the UW-W record book, and he is second for strikeouts in a season. Dott has moved in to second in the school career strikeout list with 234.
Hooper, a right hander, went 7-4 with a 4.40 ERA in 2009. He also had one save, and he struck out 65 in 73.2 innings. Opponents batted .249 against him. Hooper was First Team All-WIAC this season.
Kuhlmann, primarily UW-W's second baseman, was also First Team All-WIAC. He batted .301 with team highs in runs (37), hits (57) and walks (23).
The 2009 Warhawks, 30-19, earned a share of the league title and a berth in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III championship tournament. Dott, Kuhlmann and Hooper were First Team All-WIAC selections.
