UW-Whitewater traveled to Dubuque, Iowa on Thursday and split with the hosting Spartans by losing the first game 3-5 and winning the second game 3-0. The Warhawks are now 19-3 overall and Dubuque is 8-16.

The Warhawks scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning of game one to take a 3-0 lead.
Ashley Smith (Elgin, IL/St. Edward Catholic) singled to drive in
Amy Gahl (Beloit/Parkview), who had reached on a walk and then stole second, for the first run.
Suzanne Gersich (Wadsworth, IL/Warren) then tripled to drive in Smith for the second run.
Lauren Cruz (Des Plaines, IL/Maine West) then followed with a sacrifice fly that allowed Gersich to score the final run.
Dubuque thundered back with four runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead they would never give up. The Spartans produced one of the runs with no outs and the remaining three came with two outs.
The Warhawks went three up and three down in the top of the sixth while Dubuque added an insurance run in the bottom half of the frame to increase their lead to 5-3. Another 1-2-3 inning in the top of the seventh for UW-W ended the game.
Amanda LeBeau (Worth, IL/Richards) and Gersich recorded three and two hits respectively, each with four at bats.
Game two was scoreless until the top of the sixth when UW-W scored two runs after back-to-back triples by Gahl and Smith and a two-out single by LeBeau. Ultimately that was all the Warhawks needed for the victory, but a Gahl grounder scored an insurance run in the top of the seventh for the final margin of 3-0.
Dianna Frisbie (Juneau/Dodgeland) pitched six and a third innings and gave up only two hits while striking out one to improve to 2-0 this season.
Jessica Stang (Minnetonka, MN/Minnetonka) came on in relief to preserve the shutout and earn her second save of the season.
LeBeau's two-out single in the top of the sixth extended her hitting streak to seven consecutive games, her longest of the season.
The game one loss snapped an eight game winning streak for UW-W that began on April 3.
The Warhawks will host the Titans of Illinois Wesleyan on Friday at van Steenderen diamond on the campus of UW-Whitewater in a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 pm.
