Austin Bautista (Des Plaines, IL/Maine East), also he has all season, led UW-W with a third place finish at 141 pounds.  He went 4-1 in the tournament, defeating Corey Paulish of Williams College 4-2 in the third place match.  Bautista ended up with a 40-2 record, tied for the third highest victory mark in school history.  Bautista was also an All-American last year, finishing seventh.  The junior reached the 100 victory goal in his third place match, and the junior's career total is eleventh in the UW-W record book.

Karl Voeck (Madison/Memorial) placed sixth at 197 pounds, winding up the season 38-7.  That places him seventh in the single season record category.  Voeck won his first two matches, then injured his knee in a semifinal match.  He still wrestled on, but lost his last two matches, including the number seven seed in the fifth place match.  Voeck is among the top twenty, specifically sixteenth, on the school career win list.

Pat Nagel (Carpentersville, IL/Dundee-Crown) finished eighth at 165, going 2-3 in the national meet and winding up 28-11 for the season.  Nagel, a junior, also qualified for the NCAA III championship last year.

Max Oldenburg (Burbank, IL/Reavis), a sophomore, also represented UW-W, going 1-2 this weekend to finish at 27-11.

The top eight finishers in each weight class earn All-America honors.

Wartburg College won the NCAA III team title.  UW-Whitewater's twelfth place is the school's best showing since the Warhawks finished tenth in the 1985 NCAA meet.  Whitewater has placed among the top twenty in their national championship eighteen times since 1974.
