Three UW-Whitewater wrestlers continue to advance after day one of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III championship in Cedar Rapids, Iowa Friday. The Warhawks are in seventh place in the team standings. The tournament will conclude Saturday.

Following is UW-Whitewater's participation by weight class.
Max Oldenburg (Burbank, IL/Reavis), 125 pounds
Oldenburg lost his opening match to Clayton Rush of Coe College (whose record is now 23-11) 14-3. He came back to win his second match, defeating Jordan Alfaro of the Merchant Marine (23-10) with a pin at 4:29. Oldenburg was eliminated in his next bout, falling to Tyler Erdmann of Elizabethtown (31-5) by the score of 4-2.
Austin Bautista (Des Plaines, IL/Maine East), 141 pounds
Bautista, the number one seed at 141, opened with a 4-2 win over John Paxos of Ithaca College (23-7). In the second round he beat Derrick Smith of New York-Oswego (31-8) 3-2 to end his day with a 38-1 record.
Pat Nagel (Carpentersville, IL/Dundee-Crown), 165 pounds
Nagel had the misfortune of matching up with the number one seed, Justin Hanson of Wartburg College (33-2) in the first round, and lost 4-1. Nagel came back to beat Justin Bonitatus of The College of New Jersey (36-2) 8-2. He won again Friday night, beating Tyler Goble of Rose Hulman Institute (37-10) 3-2.
Karl Voeck (Madison/Memorial), 197 pounds
Voeck, seeded third, had a first round bye. In his first match, the second round, he defeated Nick Shandri of Wartburg College (22-10) 9-5. In his second match he won again, topping Bill Schindel of Mount Union (25-8) 9-3.
Bautista and Voeck are assured of earning All-American status, which goes to the top eight finishers in each weight class. Nagel is still in the running for the same honor. Bautista was an All-American with a seventh place finish in last year's national championship.
