Bahr, who went the distance in the five-inning game, only gave up three hits to the nineteen Southern Maine batters she faced. She also struck out three en route to her second victory of the season. The shutout is the second of the year for UW-W who shutout Ripon College 3-0 on March 20 while in Florida.
Amy Gahl (Beloit/Parkview) walked to start the first inning. She followed that up by stealing second, her fourth stolen base of the season, and then advanced to third on a ground ball. A Southern Maine wild pitch then allowed Gahl to score the only run of the top half of the first inning; the only run the Warhawks needed.
Another four runs in the top of the second and six in the top of the fourth grew the lead to 11-0. As if that weren't enough, UW-W added two more in the top of the fifth to bring the final score to 13-0.
Eighteen different Warhawks visited the plate in the game and nine recorded a hit or a walk. Highlighting the offensive explosion was
Darcy Foreman (Niles, IL/North) who went 3X3, scoring three and driving in one.
Haley Krueger (Beach Park, IL/Waukegan) also recorded multiple hits, two, in the game.
Kate McDonnell (Aurora, IL/West Aurora),
Alli Driscoll (Beloit/F.J. Turner), and
Tina Galuk (Lake in the Hills, IL/Crystal Lake South) each drove in two runs for the 'Hawks.
UW-W will play two more games on Wednesday in Florida. The first is against Eastern Connecticut State, the Warhawks only loss of the year, and the second is against D'Youville. Two more games on Thursday will wrap-up UW-W's spring trip.
