The UW-Whitewater softball team came from behind to defeat Western Connecticut 4-2 in their second game on Sunday in Florida. The Warhawks, 5-1, are in Florida until March 26 for the beginning portion of their season. With the loss Western Connecticut falls to 3-2.

UW-W took an early lead in the bottom of the first when
Amy Gahl (Beloit/Parkview) scored on a
Lauren Cruz (Des Plaines, IL/Maine West) grounder.
The Colonials responded with a run in the top of the second and a run in the top of the third to take the lead 2-1.
The Warhawks scored a run in the bottom of the fourth when
Liz Yucuis (S. Elgin, IL/St. Charles East) doubled in
Amanda LeBeau (Worth, IL/Richards) to tie the game 2-2.
A two run sixth by the Warhawks gave starting pitcher
Brittany LeBeau (Worth, IL/Richards) all she would need to earn her second victory of the season.
Brittany LeBeau (Worth, IL/Richards) struck out seven while allowing only four hits.
Gahl and
Lauren Rankins (Marengo, IL/Marengo) each recorded two hits in the game and four different Warhawks accounted for the team's four runs.
The Warhawks are off until Tuesday when they will face Wellesley and Southern Maine at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. respectively. The Warhawks have six games remaining on their spring trip to Florida before returning home.
