The UW-Whitewater softball team suffered its first loss of the season on Sunday losing to Eastern Connecticut 4-0. The Warhawks, in Florida on their spring trip, drop to 4-1 while Eastern Connecticut improves to 3-0.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third inning when Eastern Connecticut scored three runs on two hits. They added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth to secure the victory.
The Warhawks were only able to tally three hits off of Eastern Connecticut starting pitcher Molly Rathbun. Rathbun, 3-0, struck out twelve Warhawk batters. Whitewater threatened in the bottom of the first with a runner on third and two outs, but after that no other Whitewater player made it past second base in the remainder of the game.
The Warhawks will look to bounce back this afternoon in a game against Western Connecticut.
