Three Warhawk athletes earned All-American honors at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute in Terre Haute, Indiana March 13-14. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater finished thirtieth in the team standings.
Isiah Gray (Milwaukee/Brown Deer), a freshman, led UW-W with a fifth place finish in the 400 meters in 49.29. Hanneus Ollison, a senior from McMurry University won the 400 in 48.33. Gray is the first Warhawk to earn All-America honors in the 400 indoors, and the second to place in the distance indoors or outdoors in a national championship. John Kruchoski was the first, placing third outdoors in 1982.
Aron Kehoe (Monroe/Monroe) picked up points in the 800 meters, finishing sixth in 1:55.38. Defending champion Jimmy O'Brien of Ohio Northern University won the 800 in 1:53.34. Kehoe is the first UW-W runner to earn All-America honors indoors since Steve Travis placed fifth in 1981. Kehoe's performance is the fourth time a Warhawk has earned All-America honors in the 800 indoors, and the eighth time that a Warhawk has earned recognition in a national championship.
Luke Buchholz (Whitewater/Whitewater), in his first season of intercollegiate track, tied for eighth in the high jump at 6-6.75 to garner All-America honors. Cody Stelzer of Whitworth University won the high jump at 6-11. It has been twenty years since UW-W has had an All-American in the high jump, when Joe Zgonc tied for third indoors in 1989. Buchholz is just the third UW-W athlete to earn All-America honors in the high jump, with Dean Bohlman accomplishing the feat in 1983 (second) and 1987 (eighth), both outdoors.
The top eight finishers in each event, including relays, earn All-America honors at the NCAA III indoor and outdoor track and field championships.
