The match was over before it started, literally, with Lawrence forfeiting six weight classes. That accounted for thirty-six of Whitewater's points, and the Warhawks picked up eighteen more with pins in three of the four matches that were contested. The 54 team points is the fifth highest total in the UW-W record book, with the record 58 in a win over UW-River Falls during the 1997-98 season.
Since this was the final home match of the season UW-W honored five seniors in their last home match. The group included Josh Miller (Arcadia/Arcadia), Sean Evans (Richmond, IL/Richmond Burton), Tom Trieloff (Janesville/Craig), Pat Nagel (Carpentersville, IL/Dundee-Crown), and Karl Voeck (Madison/Memorial).
