Warhawks Take Two, Top Carroll and Carleton

UW-Whitewater, ranked ninth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Central Region, won twice Saturday, defeating Carroll Univeristy 8-1 and eighth-ranked Carleton College 5-4 at the Nielsen Tennis Center in Madison, Wisconsin.

After not having any matches go into a third set or tie-breaker against Carroll, UW-W found itself down 4-1 to Carleton in the second match.  UW-W had to win all four of the remaining matches for the victory.  Alex Lowe (Oswego, IL/Oswego), second to last off the court, tied the match after going into a tie-breaker.  That left the balance of the match hanging on number two singles, where Mike Harmatys (Brookfield/East) out-lasted Peter Dunn in a marathon that went three sets and 13-11 in the tie-breaker.
