Men Sweep Eleven Events

The Warhawk men swept eleven of fourteen events and placed first in every event at the 'Hawk Meet Friday night in the Kachel Fieldhouse in Whitewater, Wisconsin.

First place finishers were as follows: Cory Lockridge (Milwaukee/Rufus King) in the long jump (22-04.50), Mathias Werve (Kenosha/Tremper) in the mile (4:21.97), and the 4x200 relay (1:30.61). The high jump was taken by Luke Buchholz (Whitewater/Whitewater) (6-4.25), Peter Schroeder (Ripon/Ripon) in the 400 meter dash (50.93), Ben Stringer (Assumption, IL/Central A&M) in the weight throw (55-07.00) and Brian Gensrick (Mequon/Homestead) in the 55 hurdles (8.03). Other first place finishers were Lee Stratman (Middleton/Dodgeville) in the 800 run (1:59.31), RJ Soderman (Muskego, WI/Muskego) winning the 55 meter dash (6.76), Earnest Downing coming in at 22.78 in the 200 meter dash and Dan Machmueller (West Allis/West Allis Hale) claiming first in the 3,000 meter run (8:52.81). In the pole vault Dane Dzubinski (Brookfield/Waukesha North) vaulted 14-05.50, Marcus Smith (Milwaukee/West Allis Central) in the triple jump (44-07.50), and Luke Hibner (Elmhurst, IL/York Community) throwing 50-07.25 in the shot put to win their specialties.

Lockridge, in the long jump, and Machmueller in the 3000 meter run turned in team season best performances.

Events that were swept (1-2-3) by the Warhawk men were the long jump, high jump, 400 meter dash, weight throw, pole vault, 800 meter run, 55 meter dash, triple jump, 200 meter dash, 3,000 meter run and the shot put.

The 'Hawk Meet is UW-W's tuneup for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor championship, scheduled for February 28-March 1 at UW-Stout in Menomonie.
