Josh Ireland (South Milwaukee/South Milwaukee) recorded two of Whitewater's five season best performances at the Big Meet hosted by Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan Saturday. There were no team scores kept. (The meet actually had competition in an "invite" and an "open".)

Ireland had the top finishes for UW-Whitewater Saturday. Ireland was third in the 200 meters in a team season best 22.77. He also recorded a team season best in the 60 meters, 7.14, for fifth place.
Brian Gensrick (Mequon/Homestead) recorded a team season best time in the 60 meter hurdles, 8.68. He finished tenth in the event. Dane Dzubinski (Brookfield/Waukesha North) upped the team season best in the pole vault, vaulting 14-07.25, and placing tenth. The 4x400 relay finished fourth with another team season best, 3:21.46 while another UW-W team took fifth in 3:21.96.
Other top ten performances for UW-W included Alek Konopacki (Madison/Madison West) fourth in the "open" 400 in 54.40 while Ernest Downing (Cleveland, OH/Glenville) finished eighth in 50.73. In the 800 "invite" Aron Kehoe (Monroe/Monroe) placed eighth in 1:57.83 while in the "open" 800 Joe Dixon (Milwaukee/Rufus King) was seventh in 1:57.39. Brian Martinezdelacoteva took tenth in the 200 "open" in 23.26. Isiah Gray (Milwaukee/Brown Deer) finished third in the GVSU Invite yesterday in 49.13. Cory Lockridge (Milwaukee/Rufus King) took seventh in the long jump at 21-8.75 while teammates Shaun Davis (Edgerton/Edgerton) and Tyler Eddy (Mukwonago/Mukwonago) placed ninth and tenth (21-7.5, 21-5.5). Davis also finished ninth in the weight throw (54-11.25). Marcus Smith (Milwaukee/West Allis Central) was sixth in the triple jump at 43-7 with Mike Schmitt (Manitowoc/Roncalli) in eighth in 42-9.5. Kyle Lencho (Whitewater/Whitewater) and Luke Buchholz (Whitewater/Whitewater) placed eighth and ninth, respectively at 6-4.25 and 6-2.25 in the high jump.
The GVSU meet featured numerous Division I and Division II teams.
The next meet for the Warhawks will be the 'Hawk Invitational Friday, February 20 held at Whitewater with a 5:00 pm start time.
