The Warhawks won the first game as play went back and forth throughout.  Leading UW-W in game one was Melissa Zuleger (Little Chute/Little Chute) who tallied six kills and two solo blocks.

Game two went to the Pioneers.  Alyssa Bauer (Naperville, IL/Central) played solid defensively recording eight digs in the game.  Games three and four went in favor of UW-W with neither game being a real threat.

Bauer recorded 24 total digs in the match to lead UW-W and all players.  Alyse Karls (Dane/Lodi) contributed 42 assists on the night for the Warhawks who hit 27.5 percent.  Katy Krajnak (Racine/Case) was strong at the net having a hand in seven blocks for the third time this season.

The game was a part of the WIAC initiative called "Dig for the Cure".  The event runs during the month of October and student-athletes solicit donations along with pledges for their own team's digs with all of the proceeds being donated to the Madison Area Susan G. Komen Foundation.  During last year's promotion, the WIAC teams raised $17,347 for the foundation.

UW-W will fly out on Wednesday morning to La Verne, California for the University of La Verne Invitational.  At the tournament the 'Hawks will face Chapman University, New York University, Nazareth College and the host school.  Competition takes place on October 9 and 10.  The next home game for UW-Whitewater is on October 16 when they host UW-Eau Claire in a 7:00 pm match.  That night will also be Senior Night and Parents Night for UW-W.
