UW-Whitewater, ranked fifth in the poll National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III teams, swept three matches Friday to advance to the semifinals of the Budd Whitehill Duals hosted by Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Whitewater will face The College of New Jersey, ranked eighteenth, in one semifinal Saturday morning. The other semifinal pits #16 Wilkes College against #8 Ithaca College. Regardless of the results of the semifinals, all four teams involved will wrestle twice Saturday.
UW-W opened with a 40-8 win over Thiel College (PA), then defeated New York-0swego 37-3, and topped twenty-ninth ranked York College 30-9 in the final match Friday.
Max Oldenberg, Austin Bautista (Des Plaines, IL/Maine East), Pat Nagel (Carpentersville, IL/Dundee-Crown), Sean Pietrzyk (Salina, KS/Salina South), Karl Voeck (Madison/Memorial) and UW-W's 285 pound class (Jon Schmidt (Menomonee Falls/Hartford), Sean Evans (Richmond, IL/Richmond Burton)) all went 3-0 for the day. Oldenburg's first win, in the first match, was a 4-3 triumph over Rob Miller of Thiel, who is ranked sixth at 125 pounds in Division III. Oldenberg improved to 12-1. Bautista, ranked number one in Division III at 141 pounds, upped his mark to 18-1, and Nagel, sixth at 165, moved his season mark to 12-2. Pietrzyk, 13-4, won all three of his matches by pins, with eleven of his thirteen wins this season coming by fall. Voeck, ranked third at 197 and now 20-1, became the first Warhawk to record twenty wins this season, and Schmidt went 2-0 on the day to move his season mark to 12-1. Schimdt is ranked fourth in the 285 class in Division III. Evans replaced Schmidt in the win over Oswego, and upped his record to 14-4.

A highlight of Saturday's action will be Nagel's matchup with Justin Bonitatis of New Jersey, who is ranked tenth in Division III.
UW-W is 8-3 in dual matches, 7-0 against other NCAA III teams.
Whitewater's next home match will be Saturday, January 24, when the Warhawks will host the Border Brawl, a series of dual matches of Wisconsin schools against Illinois colleges throughout the day in Williams Center.
