In a meet that included scholarship teams, UW-W took second, third, fourth and fifth place in the triple jump. Marcus Smith (Milwaukee/West Allis Central) was second (46-8.75), Mike Schmitt (Manitowoc/Roncalli) third (42-7.5), Shaun Davis (Edgerton/Edgerton) fourth (41-7.5) and #R.J. Soderman# fifth (41-6.5).
Other top performances by Warhawk athletes included Cory Lockridge (Milwaukee/Rufus King), second in the long jump (21-9.5); Aron Kehoe (Monroe/Monroe), third in the mile (4:21.89); and the 4x400 relay of Alek Konopacki (Madison/Madison West), Aron Konopacki, Matt Kovnesky (Fort Atkinson/Fort Atkinson) and Joe Dixon (Milwaukee/Rufus King) placed fifth (3:31.72).
There were three events, in addition to the triple jump, in which UW-W had multiple top finishes. Dane Dzubinski (Brookfield/Waukesha North) (14-5.25) and Tom Weigand (West Allis/West Allis Hale) (13-5.25) placed second and fifth, respectively, in the pole vault. Dan Machmueller (West Allis/West Allis Hale) (9:04.18) and Jon Fink (Muskego/Wisconsin Lutheran) (9:06.96) went 4-5 in the 3,000 meters; and Ryan Howell (New Glarus/New Glarus) (53-0.25) and Shaun Davis (Edgerton/Edgerton) (52-10.75) did the same, 4-5, in the weight throw.
UW-Whitewater will host the Whitewater Invitational, women and men, Saturday, January 24 with field events getting underway at 10:00 in Kachel Fieldhouse.
