The first half went by smoothly with neither team scoring. Whitewater struck first with a goal by sophomore Dan Montanye (Mukwonago/Mukwonago) in the sixty ninth minute. However, at 85:40, David Scheller, a freshman from Augsburg, tied up the match with a goal. The rest of the match was run by each team's defense allowing only three total shots on goal through both overtimes, Whitewater with two of the three. The strong defenses stopped the opposing offense resulting in the 1-1 tie after the 110 minute outing.

The match was pretty even throughout with both teams statistically staying very close. Whitewater was able to produce eight shots on goal to Augsburg's seven. Whitewater did top the stats in the offsides category having not been flagged for it once the entire match to Augsburg's ten offsides calls.

The tie brings Whitewater's record to 4-3-2 overall and Augsburg moves to 5-1-2.

The next game for men's soccer will be against the University of St. Thomas at Fiskum Field in Whitewater, WI September 27, 2008 at 4:00 pm.
