Pioneers' First Win Over Warhawks Since 2001

The Warhawk men traveled to UW-Platteville on Wednesday, September 17, and came up short losing the game 0-2. Whitewater's record is now 3-2-1 overall and Platteville improves their record to 4-1-1.

Ben Terpening scored the first goal for the Pioneers 21 minutes into the game making the score 0-1. A little over six minutes later in the 27th minute, B.J. Gottschlich scored the second and final goal of the evening making the goal off a rebound after a penalty kick, making the score 0-2.  Both goals were unassisted.

Terpening led the field with four shots, two on goal and one goal. Platteville totaled ten shots and four on goal. Two other Platteville players contributed two shots. Trevor Swentik (Delafield/Marquette University HS) and Nick Haertel (Greenfield/Pius) each contributed two for the Warhawks. The Whitewater bench contributed five of the seven total shots for the team.

The Warhawks are ranked 6th in National Soccer Coaches Association of America/ Adidas Central Regional ranking for the week of September 17.

This is the Pioneers' first win over Whitewater since 2001.

The next game for the men's soccer team will be Saturday, September 20 in Whitewater against Kenyon College with a 12:00 start time.
