Number one ranked Juniata swept thirteenth ranked UW-Whitewater 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-18) on Saturday at the Teri Clemens Invitational on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. The match against Juniata was the first for the Warhawks, 6-4, on Saturday as they will face the host at 5 pm.
The Warhawks got strong performances from Melissa Peterson, who recorded six kills, and Keri Klotzbecher,
Caitlin Hogan (New London/New London), and
Natalie Starken (Muskego/Muskego), who recorded five kills a piece.
Defensively,
Alyssa Bauer (Naperville, IL/Central) dug up twelve Juniata kill attempts to lead the way for UW-W. Three other Warhawk players recorded seven digs each. The tandem of
Alyse Karls (Dane/Lodi) and
Christina DeGroot (Kewaskum/Kewaskum) combined for twenty-three assists.
The Warhawks continue competition at the Teri Clemens Invitational on Saturday at 5:00 pm when they face number two Washington University.
