'Hawks Win 9-1

Day two was successful for the women's soccer team defeating Wisconsin Lutheran 9-1 on Saturday, August 30 at Wisconsin Lutheran College.

Emily Gerber (DeForest/DeForest) scored four of the nine goals for Whitewater while Becky Cera (Wauwatosa/Wauwatosa West) and Mary Donohoo (Wauwatosa/West) contributed two each. Pamela Lisowe (New Holstein/New Holstein) scored  one to total the nine. Cera contributed an assist as well as Stacey Schultz (Menomonee Falls/Menomonee Falls) and Sara Brown (Lake Zurich, IL/Lake Zurich) each adding one as well.

Out of the 41 shots by Whitewater, 32 were in the first period. Eight of the nine Whitewater points were scored in the first period bringing the score to 8-0.

In the second period, each team scored once bringing the score to 9-1. Gerber scored the ninth goal in the second for Whitewater and Trish Mahnke of Wisconsin Lutheran scored the lone goal unassisted.

Goal keeper Kathryn Koepke of Wisconsin Lutheran had a total of 18 saves throughout the game.

The Whitewater win improves their record to 1-1 overall and Wisconsin Lutheran's record is now 0-2 overall.

The next game for Whitewater will be Sunday, September 6 against Lakeland College with a 2:30 start time.
