Ben Kuhlmann (Minneapolis, MN/Southwest) got things started with a single off of Saints pitcher Peter Burg. Kuhlmann advanced to scoring position on a failed pickoff attempt and moved to third on a ground out by Jeff Donovan (Wauwatosa/Wauwatosa East). Tom Corcoran (Rochester, MN/Rochester) reached on another error by St. Scholastica to put runners on the corners. Kevin Zalnis (Woodstock, IL/Woodstock) dropped a single into center field that scored Kuhlmann, and Ben Prather (Chicago, IL/James B. Conant) followed with another single to score Corcoran and give UW-W a 2-0 lead.
A solo home run by Zalnis in the bottom of the third gave the Warhawks a 3-0 advantage.
The Saints put a four spot on the board in the top of the sixth to take the lead. A double by Sean Claugherty scored the first run for the Saints and a three-run home run by Mike Lewis gave them the lead.
