Whitewater scored an unearned run in the first inning of game one, but Chicago came back with five runs, three on a home run by freshman outfielder Jennifer Simile.

Whitewater got one of the runs back in the fourth on a lead-off homer by sophomore leftfielder Lauren Cruz (Des Plaines, IL/Maine West).  The Warhawks tied the game with four runs in the sixth on just two hits, making the most of a walk, a wild pitch and two errors.

The winning run, in the top of the seventh, came on a double by junior second baseman #Ashley Smith (Elgin, IL/St. Edward Catholic)#, a sacrifice to move Smith to third, and a Cruz single.  Freshman lefthander Jessica Stang (Minnetonka, MN/Minnetonka), 3-1, picked up the win with three innings of hitless relief.

Both teams opened quickly in game two, with the score 3-3 after one inning.  Once again it was Cruz who provided the key hit, a two run home run.  Sophomore shortstop Amanda LeBeau (Worth, IL/Richards) provided the go ahead run with a solo shot in the second, and sophomore DH Nikole Schulty (Woodstock, IL/Woodstock) plated two with a homer in the top of the third.  Chicago pulled within two, 6-4, with a run in the bottom of the third, but UW-W put it out of reach with six in the top of the fifth.  UW-W had seven hits in  the inning, the biggest a grand slam by freshman third baseman #Lauren Rankins (Marengo, IL/Marengo)#.

Dianna Frisbie (Juneau/Dodgeland) went the first three inning and Nikole Schulty (Woodstock, IL/Woodstock) two innings (the game was stopped after five by the eight-run advantage rule).  Frisbie allowed seven hits, three earned runs, walked one and struck out three to improve to 3-0.

The University of Chicago is 7-11 this season.

UW-W will play at UW-La Crosse Saturday, April 12.  The next home game for the Warhawks will be Thursday, April 17 with UW-Oshkosh at 2:00.  UW-W home games are being played at the Lawcon Field, north of Wells Hall and east of Williams Center on campus while van Steenderen Field is being re-built.
