Senior righthander #
Adam Dominick# held the Pioneers scoreless through eight innings in game one, giving up eight hits (all singles), walking none and striking out ten. Dominick is 4-1. Gregg Reik struck out two without allowing a hit in relief in the ninth.
Dominick and the Warhawks got all the runs they needed in a three run first, two coming in on a double by senior leftfielder
Ben Prather (Chicago, IL/James B. Conant). Junior third baseman
Kevin Zalnis (Woodstock, IL/Woodstock) led off the fifth with a home run to make it 4-0, and junior centerfielder Bret Adamson brought in the final tally with a RBI double in the eighth.
Whitewater led the entire way in game two, but it was a more typical WIAC game. UW-W scored twice in the second with just one hit (plus one hit batsman and two walks). Platteville cut it to 2-1 with a run in the bottom of the third, but Whitewater scored four times in the fourth on five hits, then added four more in the sixth to take a 10-1 lead.
Platteville staved off the run rule with three in the bottom of the sixth, and Whitewater closed the scoring with a run in the eighth.
Sophomore lefty
Aaron Dott (Green Lake/Green Lake) kept his record perfect, 4-0, with five innings of work. He received relief help from
Kale Olson (Rochester, MN/Century), Reik and
Jason Hooper (Lake Mills/Lake Mills). The three relievers did not give up any hits, and combined with Dott to allow just four hits by UW-P.
Prather led the Warhwk offense with a 3x4 game at the plate.
UW-Platteville is 11-11 overall and 5-5 in the WIAC.
