Junior designated hitter Angie Kelm (Markesan/Markesan) hit a two run home run in the top of the second to give UW-W the lead in game one.  Sophomore shortstop Amanda LeBeau (Worth, IL/Richards) singled in one run, then stole home for another run in a two run second to give the Warhawks all the runs they would need.

Whitewater piled up six runs in the top of the fifth, on just two hits, to make it 10-0.  Carroll contributed four walks, a passed ball, a wild pitch and two errors to the Warhawk offense.  Carroll scored twice in the bottom of the fifth on a homer by freshman catcher Mandy Mlodzik, but the game ended after five because of the eight run rule.

Jessie Harmeyer (Muskego/Muskego), 4-2, was the winning pitcher, allowing four hits, one walk and striking out four.

Game two followed a similar pattern, with the Warhawks, batting as the home team, scoring first on a RBI double off the bat of junior second baseman Ashley Smith (Elgin, IL/St. Edward Catholic).  Then, just as in the first game, Whitewater came up with a big inning.  UW-W scored seven times in the second inning.  The rally was comprised of five hits, four Carroll errors, two walks and a passed ball.  Senior first baseman Meghann Brennfleck (Fox River Grove, IL/Cary-Grove) drove in two with a home run, and sophomore leftfielder Lauren Cruz (Des Plaines, IL/Maine West) brought in two more with a single for the big hits in the inning.

Pinch-hitter Megan Hagerty (Beach Park, IL/Waukegan) hit her first home run of the season to end UW-W's scoring in the third, and Carroll scored an unearned run in the fifth, but again the game ended because of the deficit rule.

Dianna Frisbie (Juneau/Dodgeland) improved to 6-0 with a three-hitter, walking just one while tying the team high for the season with 10 strikeouts.

Carroll is 13-9 overall.

UW-Whitewater will play Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheaders this weekend, with one change in the schedule.  The Warhawks were scheduled to travel to UW-Superior Saturday, but that twinbill has been moved to Eau Claire, where it will begin at 2:00.  (UW-EC has two softball fields, and has graciously consented to let Superior and Whitewater use one.)  Whitewater will stay overnight in Eau Claire to face the Blugolds Sunday at 12:00.
