In the first of two games on Monday afternoon the Warhawks held the Eagles scoreless as Jessica Stang (Minnetonka, MN/Minnetonka) pitched a three hitter on her way to her fourth win of the season.  Stang, 4-1 overall, struck out seven and walked only one.  Only one UW-La Crosse base runner made it past second base and only four made it to the base paths.

The Warhawks' two runs came on a Suzanne Gersich (Wadsworth, IL/Warren) single in the top of the third that scored Amy Gahl (Beloit/Parkview) and a throwing error by the UW-La Crosse first baseman in the top of the fifth that scored Amanda LeBeau (Worth, IL/Richards).

The Warhawks tallied seven hits in the contest, with Gersich nabbing three and Meghann Brennfleck (Fox River Grove, IL/Cary-Grove) notching two.  Lauren Cruz (Des Plaines, IL/Maine West) also recorded a hit to extend her hitting streak to thirteen games.

The second game featured more runs for each team but the same outcome: a UW-W victory.  Whitewater jumped on the scoreboard immediately in the top of the first inning.  Gahl led off the game with a triple and would score when the next batter, Kate McDonnell (Aurora, IL/West Aurora), grounded out to the shortstop.  Five batters later, Brennfleck doubled to drive in Cruz and Gersich.

UW-W added two more runs in the top of the second and one in the top of the sixth when Gahl led off with a home run.  The home run was Gahl's third of the season and capped the scoring for the Warhawks in the second game.

Whitewater surrendered one run in the bottom of the seventh when Kim Pietrowiak reached on an error to start the inning and then scored on a Katie Pietrowiak double.

Nikole Schulty (Woodstock, IL/Woodstock) earned the victory for the Warhawks and sits at 5-1 this season.  Kaylyn Von Glahn recorded the loss for the Eagles and moved to 4-3 this season.

The Warhawks return to the diamond on Tuesday when they travel to Bloomington, Illinois, to play Illinois Wesleyan in a twinbill beginning at 3:00 pm.  The Warhawks' next home game is Thursday, April 17th, when they host UW-Oshkosh in a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 pm at Lawcon Field.
