The UW-Whitewater baseball team split a doubleheader 8-0 and lost 2-6 against Augsburg College Friday, March 7 at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, MN.

Stellar pitching by three Warhawks shut-out Augsburg the complete nine innings. Senior Adam Dominick (Waukesha/Waukesha West) got the win, pitching five complete innings allowing only one hit. The sophomore duel of Kale Olson (Rochester, MN/Century) and Aaron Dott (Green Lake/Green Lake) finished the shut-out with five total strikeouts and only allowing three hits between the two of them. Senior outfielder, Tom Corcoran (Rochester, MN/Rochester), and sophomore shortstop Ben Kuhlman (Minneapolis, MN/Southwest) led the Warhawk bats. Corcoran went 3-4 with a double and a triple. Kuhlman was 1-1 with a triple drawing three walks at the plate. Both came around to score twice and added two RBIs. The Warhawk hitters put in a total group effort with 13 total base hits and six extra base hits to give Whitewater the win 8-0.
Game two was scoreless until Augsburg scored one in the fourth. Senior Randy Johnson (Kenosha/Kenosha Tremper) got the loss for the Warhawks pitching five complete innings, striking out six with no walks and allowing only four hits. The sixth inning was dominated by the Augsburg hitters as they scored five runs on two walks, three errors and a wild pitch increasing their lead to 6-0. Whitewater hitters struggled not getting a hit until the fourth inning and only mustering four hits the entire game. Kuhlman led the Warhawks going 2-3 with one double and an RBI.
Whitewater will play Worcester State at Venice High School in Port Charlotte, FL as part of their spring trip Wednesday, March 19 at 11:30.
