Warhawks Fall to #3 DePauw

UW-Whitewater lost to DePauw University, ranked third in the national Division III poll, 6-3 Thursday in Fort Myers, Florida. The victory was DePauw's twentieth in a row since a season-opening loss, and the runs UW-W scored were the first by a Tiger opponent in more than sixty innings.

DePauw scored first, plating two in the first inning.  UW-W tied the game with a pair of runs in the second on back-to-back extra base hits by Lauren Cruz (Des Plaines, IL/Maine West) (triple) and Meghann Brennfleck (Fox River Grove, IL/Cary-Grove) (home run).  DePauw added two more in the fourth and two in the fifth, before an RBI single by Cruz in the sixth ended the scoring in the game.

DePauw is 20-1.  UW-W ends their spring trip with a 9-3 mark.  The Warhawks will open their home schedule Wednesday, April 2 at 3:00 with a doubleheader against Lawrence University.  All UW-W home games this season will be played at the Lawcon facility near Wells Hall while van Steenderen Field is being replaced.  There is no admission charge.
