The UW-Whitewater men's tennis team opened their spring trip on Saturday with a 7-2 victory over Colby College (ME).  The Warhawks won all three doubles matches, with both the #1 (Alex Lowe (Oswego, IL/Oswego)/Gianandrea Heyer (Lugano, Switzerland/Bellinzona HS)) and #2 (Erich Palecek (Franklin/Greendale)/Daniel Glinert) teams winning 9-8.  In singles play, Colby College won the #1 and #2 matches but the Warhawks won the other four singles matches, sweeping three of them, to seal the match.

Johnny Reed (Madison/LaFollette) swept his match at #3 singles (6-3, 6-1), as did #4 player Danny Gilnert (6-2, 6-2) and David Stefanik (Oak Creek/Oak Creek) (6-0, 6-1) at #6.  Timmy Moller fought back to win his match at #5 singles, 6-7 (6), 6-1, (10-8).

The next match for the Warhawks in Hilton Head, SC will be on Monday, March 24 with an 11 AM (CT) against the University of Sioux Falls.  On April 5, Ripon College and St. Francis will travel to Whitewater to face the Warhawks at 9:00 am and 3:30 pm, respectively.
