The UW-Whitewater Warhawks (4-1) defeated Worcester College (3-6) 3-2 on Wednesday, March 19, at Venice Stadium in Venice, FL.

The Warhawks scored first in the second inning. Senior first basemen Ben Prather (Chicago, IL/James B. Conant) singled, and advanced to second when sophomore second basemen Nick Rechlitz (Milwaukee/Marquette) was hit by a pitch. Prather then advanced to third off of a sacrifice ground out by senior short stop Greg Harder (Waukesha/Waukesha West). Prather scored off of a fly out by junior pitcher/outfielder Joe Munn (Pleasanton, CA/Pleasanton). In the third inning the Warhawks scored again. Senior outfielder Tom Corcoran (Rochester, MN/Rochester) scored off of a single by sophomore short stop Ben Kuhlmann (Minneapolis, MN/Southwest), earning him an RBI.
Worcester College battled back scoring two runs in the bottom of the third inning. Junior outfielder Matt Hart batted in freshman infielder Ryan Raleigh, and sophomore infielder Ryan LaPrade scored off of an RBI single by senior infielder Nate Nelson.
The score remained 2-2 through the ninth inning, which lead to extra innings. In the top of the tenth, junior outfielder Jordan Stein reached first because he was hit by a pitch. He then advanced to second off of a wild pitch. Then Corcoran hit an RBI double scoring Stein, which made the score 3-2.
In the bottom of the tenth Whitewater had a team effort not allowing a runner past second base. The last out came when the Warhawks caught a runner attempting to steal third.
Sophomore pitcher Kale Olson (Rochester, MN/Century) earned the win for the Warhawks, and senior pitcher Randy Johnson (Kenosha/Kenosha Tremper) earned the save.
The Warhawks are in the others receiving votes category for the national division III poll.
The Warhawks will next have a varsity reserve competition against Jamestown CC, at Venice HS, in Venice FL, at 6:30 pm. The Warhawks next varsity competition will be Friday at noon against Bethel at S. Charlotte Regional Park. University
