Warhawks 11th, Ashby 17th in Music City

UW-Whitewater finished eleventh in a twenty-one team field at the Music City Classic hosted by Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee Saturday-Sunday.  The Warhawks were led by Kim Ashby (Loves Park, IL/Harlem), who tied for seventeenth out of 164 competitors.

Team scores were:  Central Missouri 10083, Vanderbilt 10081, New Jersey City 9830, Alabama A&M 9731, Arkansas State 9721, Fairleigh Dickinson 9684, Sacred Heart 9653, Minnesota-Mankato 9457, Southern 9414, Jackson State 9307, UW-W 9229, Morgan State 8747, Fayetteville State 8734, Saint Francis 8759, Norfolk State 8480, Hampton 8438, Adelphi 8431, Kutztown 8420, South Carolina State 8192, North Carolina A&T 7892, and North Carolina Central 6999.

UW-W went 7-5 in head-to-head competition, with defending national champion, and host, Vanderbilt topping the list of dual matches with an 11-1 mark in the tourney. 

Ashby totaled 879 to place eleventh, including a 203 score.  Katie Saffold (Lake Zurich, IL/Lake Zurich) had Whitewater's best game, rolling 231, but she only rolled just four games (instead of five that Ashby and some other athletes bowled).  Kueltzo's high game is the eleventh best by a Warhawk this season.  Whitney Smith of Alabama A&M took home the individual title, totaling 1086.

The tournament consisted of five games for individual team members Saturday, and five Baker games Sunday.  Whitewater's total for Saturday was 5098, and UW-W collected 4131 pins in Baker competition.
